Reports To: Operations Manager
Summary:
The supervisor role is responsible for leading, managing and providing guidance and oversight to all assigned functions of the drafting team to effectively and efficiently produce. Provide complete and accurate drawings for the design of residential and commercial floor plans for the Enercept panelization system of SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels).
Essential Functions:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Other duties may be assigned.
- Design floor plans to fit panel system using AutoCAD and panelizing software (hsbCAD).
- Provide complete and accurate drawings for the design of residential and commercial floor plans.
- Plans, assigns, and reviews the work of drafters and other employees working on design projects.
- Establishes deadlines, develops goals, and determines production standards for the department.
- Analyzes data and reviews drawings and plans to ensure quality of work and project feasibility.
- Provides CAD technical support and develops solutions for all application problems. Be fluent or develop fluency in drafting programs that support our process, so you can be an effective resource for the drafting team.
- Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Leads and directs the work of others.
- Determines best course of action in the completion of assignments in assigned area including setting priorities.
- Develop and/or assist new team members in the drafting department.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- Education and / or Experience: Requires two (2) years of post-secondary education in Drafting Technology including CAD instruction and 6-8 years of any acceptable combination of education and experience of progressively responsible advanced drafting experience.
- Develop: Thorough technical knowledge of CAD techniques and specific software such as AutoCAD, HSB. Strong working knowledge of terms, procedures, and components used in manufacturing and construction industries.
- Skills: Strong project management skills, along with PC software skills with both Word and Excel. Sufficient analytical skills to convert moderately vague concepts or instructions into drawings. Skilled in communicating technical concepts to a diverse audience, both in reading and writing. Skilled in engineering terminology including design specifications, bill of materials, equipment and component testing methods and equipment functions. Skills in performing mathematical calculations such as operating measurements, weights, dimensions, and tolerances. Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and suggest improved safety procedures.
